How could I add to a crochet blanket?

I have crocheted a blanket. Now I want to add a little more pizazz to it. I know I can do a border but I want to add even more. Would there be a way that I could add a backing to it. Like maybe a fleece fabric to make it softer, if so how could I do that? Thank you
