Same Symptoms as Peripheral Vascular Disease but Not What I Have?

I had a consultation with my doctor today to see if he could advise on a long term problem I have been having with my lower leg. His early prognosis was that it sounded like Peripheral Vascular Disease until he took the pulse in my foot, leg and groin. The pulse was good, so he was at a loss to explain what is causing my problem and has referred me to see a specialist in the local hospital. the hospital waiting lists are fairly long apparently so I was hoping someone may have a theory as to what is wrong so I can adopt any self-help measures as soon as possible.
